Beyond Regulation: What the CFPB Expects from Payments Processors

Over the past two years, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) has brought enforcement actions against payment processors and their owners for allegedly facilitating payments for debt collectors and consumer creditors engaged in illegal activity. The CFPB’s actions are leaving processors wondering how to protect themselves.

Please join us as we discuss what the CFPB expects payment processors (and other companies in the payments space) to do to ensure that they do not facilitate illegal conduct. We will examine the CFPB’s actions, explain the factors that led the CFPB to conclude that the payments companies were culpable and discuss practical steps companies can take to avoid the same fate.
