Mayer Brown has an active transport and equipment finance practice with experience across industries, asset classes and product lines. Our experience includes leveraged leasing and structured finance, lease and equity portfolio transfers, as well as debt financing and Islamic finance.
Equipment Finance
Our equipment finance team has a long-standing practice in leasing, including leveraged and single investor leasing. Our work includes representation of equity participants, lessees, governments and governmental agencies and underwriters in privately placed and public transactions. We have represented clients on domestic single investor and leveraged tax leases, cross-border leveraged leases, "synthetic" leases and other off-balance sheet lease and hybrid lease structures, bank and public funded debt transactions, and enhanced equipment trust certificate transactions (EETCs), lease warehouse structures and lease securitization structures.
We also have extensive experience in sophisticated leasing products such as cross-border transactions, "double-dips," debt pass-through trusts, domestic and cross-border leasehold structures and qualified technological equipment transactions. The tax lawyers in the team are well versed in the implications of all forms of transactions, including those with cross-border elements and multi-jurisdictional tax issues.
The assets in which we have experience range from transport equipment to power generation and transmission, mining and construction equipment, telecommunications (including satellites), manufacturing and processing equipment, and municipal facilities.

Our transportation finance team has extensive experience in the aviation, maritime, rail and automotive sectors. We have handled shipping finance transactions in virtually every maritime jurisdiction. We also advise on the financing of aircraft, rolling stock, offshore oil and gas drilling rigs as well as airport, rail and port infrastructure.
