Lee N. Abrams is a senior partner in Mayer Brown LLP’s Chicago office, where he practices in the areas of sports law, antitrust law, franchise law and complex litigation. He has been the principal outside counsel for the United States Golf Association since 1979.  In that capacity he has litigated, and consulted on, legal issues relating to golf equipment, golf handicaps, amateur status, applicability of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the provision of hospitality services incident to golf championships.   He represents major national corporations and corporate officials in investigations conducted by the Antitrust Division, the Federal Trade Commission and state antitrust enforcement authorities, and handles complex litigation in federal and state courts. He has handled antitrust litigation on behalf of such companies as General Motors, Eastman Kodak, Carnation, International Paper, News America, Citicorp, Ford Motor Company, NewsCorp, PPG, Pitney Bowes, Dresser Industries, and Bell & Howell.  Mr. Abrams has served as Vice Chair and Financial Officer of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, and as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising. He also served as Chair of the Antitrust Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Business Law. He has written and lectured extensively on antitrust and franchise law issues. Mr. Abrams received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1955 and J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1957. He received the Elijah Watts Sells Award for achieving the highest grade in the United States on the Uniform CPA examination. Mr. Abrams is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
