Experience
James Dodsworth is regarded as "an excellent commercial lawyer who manages clients well" (Chambers UK 2009) offering "legal advice that is second to none" (Legal 500, 2009). His practice is concentrated on issues relating to commercial real estate.
James has a diverse list of clients ranging from institutional investors and property developers to FTSE 100 companies, investment banks and global data centre providers. He has considerable experience with regard to sales and leasebacks, real estate outsourcing and joint venture agreements, as well as with the real estate aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions and projects. According to Chambers UK 2008, he "earns client commendations for his crisp, clear advice that takes into account the needs of our business." He is also ranked as an "up-and-coming individual."
James initiated his practice with Mayer Brown in 2001 and was named partner in 2005. Prior to joining Mayer Brown, he was associated with another prominent international law firm in London.

Recent representative transactions include: - Advising Capital & Counties on the acquisition of the Covent Garden Estate for £421 million.
- Advising Hampton Brook Estates on the largest single office development in Milton Keynes during the last 25 years, including advice in relation to forward funding and pre-letting aspects.
- Advising Puma in connection with the acquisition of its European design headquarters.
- Advising a leading international investment bank on a number of real estate acquisitions and disposals relating to its real estate funds, including the sale, leaseback, development, and letting of a 52-acre industrial park.
- Advising numerous corporate clients in relation to the lettings of their global, European, or London offices, including Tristone Capital's European headquarters at 77 Grosvenor Street, London.
- Advising Digital Realty Trust, one of the world's largest data centre developers, on the acquisition, financing, development and leasing of various data centres both in the UK and continential Europe.
