Experience
Gary Bownes heads the corporate real estate team in the London office. He is a respected corporate and transactional lawyer whose practice focuses primarily on commercial property issues. He has considerable experience across virtually all aspects of commercial conveyancing, particularly regarding the acquisition and disposal of all types of freehold and leasehold property and the administration of leasehold property portfolios for large UK, Irish, and US corporate clients.
He has been involved with numerous large and complex transactions for industry-leading clients such as Unilever and its subsidiaries, Cosgrave Group, Putnam Investments, the Durkan Group, and Vue (formerly Warner Village Cinemas).
Gary joined Mayer Brown International in 1987 and was named a partner in 1995. He gained significant international experience between 1989 and 1991, in the course of a secondment at Freehill Hollingdale & Page, in Melbourne, Australia. Previously, Gary worked with another leading law firm in the UK.
