Experience 
Mark Biskamp's practice concentrates on commercial transactions involving the real estate, financial services, energy, and professional sports industries, including project development and finance; acquisitions and divestures; joint ventures; asset and operational agreements; and day-to-day business matters.

Mark is actively involved in all facets of acquisitions, sales, development, operation, leasing, and financing of real estate projects in cities across the United States as well as in Mexico, including overseeing national real estate portfolio transactions; land assemblages; negotiation of construction, management, and service contracts; negotiations with governmental authorities and tenants; negotiation of debt and equity financing, involving national banks, pension funds, real estate investment trusts, and other institutional investors; formation of partnerships and limited liability companies; and renegotiation of arrangements with lenders and equity investors.  Mark also assists banks and other financial services companies with nationwide real estate lending matters, including construction, bridge, and permanent financing; loan modifications; workouts; and foreclosures.  He often serves as local counsel for out-of-state lenders conducting business in Texas.

Mark assists public and private companies and governmental entities with domestic and cross-border infrastructure and energy matters, including acquisitions, sales, and development of energy projects; management and operational agreements; and joint ventures.  He has advised clients with respect to investments involving water infrastructure; pipelines; oil and gas exploration and production assets; energy storage facilities; and renewable energy projects.  He is a member of the firm’s Global Energy and Infrastructure Practice Groups.

Mark represents professional sports teams and other companies in the negotiation of agreements relating to the development, operation and management of professional sports arenas and stadiums.  He has assisted clients with construction contracts; lease agreements; naming rights agreements; foodservice management and concession agreements; sponsorship agreements; suite licenses; ticketing agreements; television and radio agreements; and special events agreements.  Mark was formerly Vice President and General Counsel of the Houston Rockets, Houston Comets, and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment, where he negotiated the television agreement between the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros regional sports network and Fox Sports; the NBA All-Star Game agreement; and agreements involving the operation and management of the Toyota Center.

  • Represented a pension fund in a cross-border acquisition of a publicly-traded, Canadian oil and gas company.
  • Advised a pension fund in connection with an infrastructure investment in the largest water company in England and Wales.
  • Represented a publicly-traded company in the sale of underground salt dome natural gas storage facilities.
  • Represented a pension fund in the sale of a national industrial real estate portfolio.
  • Represented a real estate investment trust in the nationwide acquisition and development of medical office buildings.
  • Represented a pension fund in acquisitions of office building portfolios.
  • Represented a real estate investment trust in land assemblages for industrial developments.
  • Represented a bank in nationwide condominium construction lending.
  • Represented a bank in a construction loan for the world’s largest data center.
