Kenneth Weinstein has extensive experience in federal regulatory law, specializing in areas regulated by the Department of Transportation, and in particular motor vehicle safety and aviation economic and safety regulation. He has handled a wide range of matters before the Supreme Court, Federal and state courts of appeals, and administrative agencies, including cases involving the review of agency orders and regulations, preemption, airline mergers and route authority, and the Freedom of Information Act.

Prior to coming to Mayer Brown, Ken held a number of high-level positions in the Federal government, including serving as Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Litigation of the US Department of Transportation from 1981-1988; Assistant Chief Counsel for Litigation of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) from 1988-1997; and NHTSA's Associate Administrator for Enforcement from 1997-2005.

During his governmental tenure, Ken received a number of significant awards and honors, including the Presidential Rank Award (Meritorious Executive) in 2002, and Senior Executive Service (SES) Performance Awards in 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2001.
