Gillian Sproul is head of antitrust and competition in London and advises clients on EU and UK competition law matters. She has represented clients in cartel and abuse of dominance cases before the EU and UK regulators and courts and has obtained EU, UK and other national clearances for numerous complex mergers and joint ventures. She has recently represented a defendant in EU cartel proceedings on an appeal to the European Court of Justice and defended a market-dominant business against proceedings by the UK competition authorities.

In addition, Gillian regularly advises clients on the impact of the EU and UK competition rules and the EU rules on state aids, relative to a broad range of business agreements, transactions and strategies.

Consistently ranked as a key individual, Gillian is valued for her "calmly delivered, concise and business-focused advice," (Chambers UK 2012). She provides "concise and to-the-point advice, and isn't afraid of giving an answer" (Chambers UK 2011). She has "very good knowledge and delivers advice consisely and clearly" notes Legal 500 2011.
