30 December 2005 - Carrie Brooke Marche, a downstate assistant appellate defender, helps some Will County youths pack a wallop. Much of Marche's free time is spent as coach of the Joliet Boxing Team. That's an unusual avocation for the native of Southern California. "I love it," Marche said of being a coach. "She's the biggest part of my life." Marche won a Golden Gloves match in 2001, besting a woman who had a 20-pound weight advantage and was about 10 years younger. The following year, she lost a Golden Glove match to a three-time kickboxing champion from Wisconsin. |
