Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP appoints Friedrich Merz to partnership

| 26 November 2004 - Friedrich Merz, lawyer and one of the best-known politicians of the post-war generation in Germany, known in particular for his achievements over the last years in German and European tax and financial policy, is to join international law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP from the beginning of 2005 as a partner. Mr Merz was previously partner in the well-known firm of CBH Cornelius, Bartenbach, Haesemann & Partner.
Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP has operated in Germany since 1994 and has more than 70 lawyers in Frankfurt and Cologne. The current firm, with more than 1,300 lawyers worldwide, was created by the merger of well-known US law firm Mayer, Brown & Platt with highly regarded London firm Rowe & Maw in 2002. The German offices advise large international businesses and financial institutions as well as medium size businesses in all relevant areas of national and international business law.
