Paul Maher becomes Senior Partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw's London office

| 2 May 2003 - International law practice Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw announced today that Paul Maher has become the Senior Partner of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP from 1st May 2003, in succession to Stuart James who is retiring from full time practice. Stuart will remain with the practice as a consultant.
Paul's principal role as Senior Partner will be to lead the continued development of the office in London so that Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw is recognised as one of the foremost international law practices in the London market.
Paul said: "During Stuart's tenure as Senior Partner, Rowe & Maw developed through a mixture of organic growth and astute lateral hires and, with a reputation for punching above its weight, became an attractive partner for law firms looking to merge. The combination with Mayer, Brown & Platt, which was the first merger of a major UK legal practice with a major US legal practice, resulted in the creation of one of the top law practices in the world. We want to provide our clients, in the UK and around the world, with top quality legal services, at competitive rates. To achieve that, we must, over the next few years, grow our office here because of the importance of London as a major financial centre. We already have an enviable collection of legal talent in our London office, both at partner and assistant level, and our management structures can support a larger office. I will be working over the next few years with my colleagues in London, the US and Europe to build on the foundations laid by Stuart and others to continue the successes already achieved by the combination. "
