Peter Sugden is head of real estate in London. He is a transactional partner whose practice focuses primarily on UK and European real estate investment and development, including joint venture and other structured real estate transactions. Peter advises a broad spectrum of clients, working primarily with institutions, private equity and opportunity funds, property companies and pension funds. He also acts for a number of developers, particularly in the context of mixed-use schemes.
Major professional directories in the UK have described Peter as “excellent at keeping his eye on the ball.” Characterised as "’hard working, thorough and a bit of a bruiser,’ [Peter] is a hit with clients and appreciated because ‘he personally deals with what he says he'll deal with and won't pass it on.’” Peter is well regarded and "able to get straight to what is important" notes Chambers UK 2010. He is "an extremely capable guy, personable, and very much a deal-doer" notes Legal 500, 2009. His "commercial, pragmatic input helps move the deal along" says Chambers & Partners UK Directory 2009 . The 2007 edition notes that “Peter Sugden's loyal clients appreciate the fact that ‘he personally deals with what he says he will deal with’ and is ‘efficient and technically excellent’ by all accounts.” In 2005, Chambers UK listed Peter as a Leading Individual in the category of Real Estate — Larger Deals. He is highly regarded, as well, in the UK Legal 500 2004 directory. Having been the lead partner on deals such as advising Green Property during the £400 million sale to Burford Holdings of its entire UK portfolio and Capital and Counties on the purchase of the covenant garden portfolio for circa £420 million, Peter has been noted as a leading property investment attorney.
