Experience
- Jack Su heads our Energy practice in Asia. Having spent 17 years based in Hong Kong and Singapore, he has represented companies engaged in investment and finance on energy, oil and gas, power, and water projects. He has also taken a lead role in numerous M&A, private equity, manufacturing and infrastructure transactions involving multi-jurisdictions across Asia.
- Jack has advised on the acquisition, development and financing of power and water projects including greenfield and brownfield financings.
- Prior to joining JSM, he served in the corporate department of a number of leading law firms in Hong Kong with a particular focus on energy and power projects. He also represented various financial institutions on real estate investment transactions in China. He served as an in-house counsel for two major water services and power companies, Vivendi Water Asia (now known as Veolia Water) and Sithe Asia Holdings Limited.
- Jack is a regular speaker on power and infrastructure projects. He speaks English, Mandarin and French.

- Advising Vivendi Water Asia in the potential acquisition of an infrastructure company based in Hong Kong that owns shareholdings in a bridges and tunnel project in Guangzhou, a power station in Guangdong Province and various joint venture water treatment companies
- Advising CSX in its development and limited recourse financing of the US$1 billion Pusan Newport container port terminal comprising six berths in Pusan, South Korea
- Advised Union Fenosa in its bid for Tuas Power, one of the three power generation companies in Singapore to be divested by Temasek.
- Advised on the restructuring of Marubeni Corporation's worldwide power assets including 27 power investments throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas.
- Advising on a bid by a consortium led by Hongkong Electric International for the Al Hidd Independent Water & Power Project which ahs a capacity of 694 MWs and a 4x7.5 MiGD Multi Stage Flash desalination plant located in Manama, Bahrain.
- Advised on a US$225 million acquisition by Vivendi Water of water and wastewater processing facilities in Korea at Hyundai Electronics Industries including a 150 billion Won-dominated project and acquisition financing facility led by Hana Bank, Korea Development Bank and Korea Exchange Bank. Other lenders included Kyobo Life Insurance, Korea Life Insurance and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance.
- Advising on the potential acquisition by Genting of a 50% stake in Meiya Power Company which holds more than 4,000 MWs of gross capacity in 16 power stations in China, Korea and Taiwan.
- Advised Merrill Lynch Global Commercial Real Estate on several real estate investments in mixed use development projects and residential and hotel developments in China.
