Experience
Menachem Hasofer is a partner of Mayer Brown JSM. He is experienced in litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution with an emphasis on disputes arising from building construction and infrastructure projects. He advises employers and contractors on contractual disputes relating to variations, delays and payment. Menachem also advises on construction insurance claims and contractor insolvency.
Menachem has completed The Law Society of Hong Kong's Mediation Training Course and is currently undergoing accreditation assessment. He speaks English and Hebrew. Notable Engagements
- Acted for Hong Kong Housing Authority in relation to the legal proceedings arising from non-conforming foundations at Tin Shui Wai. Ancillary proceedings in Hong Kong and Germany concerning insolvency of a construction company and global liability insurance
- Acted for the Hong Kong Government in an arbitration brought by the joint venture of European/Asian contractors which involved questions of PRC law
- Acted for a Hong Kong educational institution in arbitrations arising from the construction of its campus. Successfully concluded High Court proceedings for enforcement of award, involving cross-border insolvency and Japanese law
- Acted for an employer of a landmark project in Macau concerning variations, defects and nominated subcontractors¡¦ work
- Acted for a German drilling contractor in a dispute with its joint venture partner arising from horizontal directional drilling works in the Ma Wan Channel
- Representing land owners and others in judicial review proceedings concerning town planning and land lease decisions
