Experience
- Wide experience of dispute resolution in banking and commercial matters both in the UK and in Hong Kong, including arbitration
- Advises on regulatory matters including SFC investigations, domestic tribunals and administrative law remedies including judicial review
- Co-head of the firm’s Competition Law Group and actively involved in ongoing consultation with the HKSAR Government regarding development of a competition law and advising a number of clients regarding compliance activities in advance of introduction of the new law

- Advising on insolvency and re-structuring work in Hong Kong, including various matters arising out of the BCCHK liquidation, and on a number of large scale cases arising from the Asian financial crisis including matters arising out of the Peregrine liquidation.
- Advised the court-appointed liquidators of a collapsed securities company following petition by the SFC in relation to a wide range of issues.
- Advised Managers appointed by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority to run the affairs of a Deposit Taking Company following the issue of a notice by the US Treasury Department under the Patriot Act.
- Advised the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants in respect of its investigation process, practice review programme, and in relation to a large number of disciplinary cases initiated by it against individual CPAs and firms of accountants.
- Advised a major international bank based in Hong Kong in relation to potential claims arising out of swaps terminated early by virtue of a re-financing of a commercial mortgage backed securitisation. This matter involved a detailed analysis of complex documentation and negotiation with a number of parties affected by the re-financing. The matter was resolved in a positive way for our client.
