Venture Capital / Mergers and Acquisitions
Mayer Brown is one of the few major multinational practices that serve the venture capital market. We advise and represent early-stage issuers, the investment vehicles that finance their development and investment banks acting as financial advisors, placement agents and underwriters. Befitting our size and international scope, we have extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions across a wide range of industries.
Securitization
With 100 securitization lawyers in offices worldwide, Mayer Brown is one of a handful of international law firms that have securitized virtually every asset type that has been securitized. We helped pioneer collateralized debt obligation transactions and the first partially enhanced commercial paper conduit. Chambers USA 2004 noted that our firm is looked to for "bringing innovative programs to market," with a breadth of expertise on cutting-edge work and "strength at partner level." Among the league table leaders in structured finance deals, Chambers 2003-2004 further cited our "significant expertise in sophisticated and innovative financings, and [our] reputation for 'exotic' structures." Our partners have been described as being "plugged in" to tax, accounting, and regulatory issues, and are "great for finding out what the trends are." (Chambers 2003-2004)
We have demonstrated our in-depth skills related to Israeli projects ranging from private companies and public sector organizations to providers of funding (both debt and equity). Projects have included the development of a multi-country trade receivables facility for Israel Chemicals, Ltd. and its subsidiaries.

Intellectual Property and Information Technology / Outsourcing
We have extensive experience in intellectual property, outsourcing and software issues, and regularly advise clients on the economic development of such assets, as well as joint ventures, capital formation, and general corporate matters. Our IT / Outsourcing leadership role was confirmed by our receipt of the Chambers USA 2003 Communications / IT Firm of the Year Award. Chambers describes our U.S. practice as "one of the leading firms for IT outsourcing" with "unmatched competence across the full range of communication law" and our U.K. practice as "'vibrant.' [O]utsourcing is the area in which this firm excels...." As one of the three leading practices in this rapidly growing area of corporate law, we have succeeded in representing both service providers, such as Accenture and CapGemini, and the companies outsourcing to them. We have done over $15 billion in deals in recent years. Our lawyers have significant practical experience in the information technology industry. Most have worked as software developers or as inside counsel for information technology providers. Many studied computer science as undergraduates. This experience allows a better understanding of core business and technical information technology issues.
