Steven Yovits is a partner in Mayer Brown’s Intellectual Property group in Chicago. His practice focuses on patent litigation and counseling. Steven holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and has litigated patent cases involving computer software, Internet applications, business methods, computer hardware, electronics, telephony and wireless technology. He has also counseled clients regarding strategic usage of patent portfolios, threats of litigation, licensing, trade secrets and other intellectual property issues. In addition, Steven has extensive experience with patent damages issues.
Before joining Mayer Brown, Steven was a partner in Howrey LLP’s Intellectual Property group, considered at that time to be one of the top practices in the world. During his tenure there, he gained substantial trial experience and was successful in arguing dispositive motions.
For several years before attending law school, Steven worked as an electrical engineer for Westinghouse and as a manufacturing engineer for Kraft Foods.
Steven is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
