He represents clients in transactions involving the (1) outsourcing of business process functions, including facilities management for laboratory, warehouse and corporate office space, manufacturing facility maintenance, manufacturing production maintenance, food services, environmental services, employee benefits, revenue cycle management and accounts payable; and (2) the outsourcing of technology functions, including network management, infrastructure, help desk, call center, telecommunications, application hosting and application development and maintenance. He also advises clients on issues associated with software licenses, the purchase and sale of hardware, consulting agreements, alliance agreements, software development agreements, and various technology-related service agreements. He has represented companies in many different industries, including consumer products, chemicals, manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceuticals, health care, banking, life sciences and information technology.

Kevin has also represented clients in matters involving copyright and trademark litigation and general commercial litigation.

According to Chambers USA, Kevin is a “master negotiator” (2012) and "has a terrific approach to negotiating” (2009). The 2008 edition noted that “the ‘utterly unfazeable’ Kevin Rang is especially active advising on facilities management outsourcings.” It has been said that he has "such a quick mind that he never misses a beat...very level-headed and civilized in negotiations - aggressive when needed, but never off-putting" (Chambers USA 2007). He has also been called "a definite asset in negotiations because of his logical brain and unflappable approach - he builds trust on all sides of the deal" (Chambers 2006). Kevin joined Mayer Brown in 2000.
