Mandip Sagoo is a partner in the Insurance & Reinsurance practice of the London office and joined Mayer Brown in 2005. Mandip was seconded for six months in 2006 to the professional indemnity claims team of Lloyd's Syndicate 386 and was seconded again to the financial institutions claims team of QBE during 2011. Mandip has extensive experience of advising insurers on a variety of high value, complex financial institutions, D&O, professional indemnity and political risk claims, often involving parties, authorities and litigation in a number of jurisdictions.
Mandip is well known in the financial institutions market and, in particular, has an ongoing role advising primary and excess layer insurers on coverage issues arising out of Madoff-related claims and claims concerning the mis-selling of payment protection insurance (PPI). Mandip also advises insurers on high profile D&O notifications, including instances where regulatory investigations are ongoing in the UK and overseas. Mandip is also working with clients to consider the coverage implications of the credit crisis, the LIBOR scandal and the potential impact on the insurance industry of ongoing developments in the Eurozone, as well as in connection with the latest developments in Cyber risks and exposures faced by financial institutions.
In the context of professional indemnity matters, Mandip regularly advises insurers and their insureds on claims brought against a variety of professionals, including solicitors, accountants, surveyors, insurance brokers and trustees both in the UK and offshore. Recent work includes cases involving failure to detect fraud, alleged mismanagement of assets by professional trustees and claims arising from allegedly negligent audits.
