We have engaged in this practice area for more than twenty years. Our practice in this area began when we advised on the formation of ALAS LTD in 1980, and increased significantly when we began representing ACE and SCUUL in the mid-1980’s.
We are well known for our experience in the formation of Bermuda-based insurance companies, including Everest Re Group, LaSalle Re, Intrepid Re and Endurance Specialty. We have been counsel or co-counsel in high profile IPOs, including those of ACE Limited, Assured Guaranty Ltd. and LaSalle Re Limited. We have also structured and formed US and off-shore captives for many of our non-insurance clients. Several of our captive clients are organized as risk retention groups under the Federal Risk Retention Act of 1986.
