Mayer Brown partner Evan Tager elected to the American Law Institute

18 April 2014

Mayer Brown, a leading global law firm, announced that partner Evan Tager (Washington DC) has been elected as a member of the American Law Institute (ALI). He joins 60 other newly elected ALI members who are outstanding judges, lawyers and law professors from 26 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands, Australia and Singapore.

ALI is a leading independent US organization producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. By participating in ALI’s work, its 3,000 members influence the development of the law in both existing and emerging areas, give back to a profession to which they are deeply dedicated, and contribute to the public good.

“The election of a new class of members is always a key moment for the ALI,” said ALI President Roberta Cooper Ramo. “The work we do depends on finding the most accomplished and respected lawyers, judges, and scholars who are willing to give generously of their time because of the importance of our projects.”

Mr. Tager is a partner in the Mayer Brown’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice and its Supreme Court & Appellate and Class Action groups. He has argued cases in the United States Supreme Court and in numerous federal and state appellate and trial courts. In addition, he has filed hundreds of briefs in the US Supreme Court and in lower courts throughout the country on issues of paramount importance to the business community, such as punitive damages, class-certification standards, admissibility of expert testimony, and enforceability of arbitration agreements. Among his many recognitions and awards, Mr. Tager has been identified by Chambers USA as one of America’s leading appellate lawyers for the past nine years, has been profiled by Legal Times as a leading appellate lawyer, was named to The National Law Journal’s “Champions and Visionaries” list and was selected as a Client Choice Award winner by International Law Office for the Litigation category in Washington DC.
