Making an Application

  • Build a Report

You don't have to study law as an undergraduate degree in order to qualify as a Solicitor in the UK. In fact over half of the applications we receive for both our Work Experience Programmes and Training Contracts come from candidates who have studied a whole range of non law degrees. Outlined below are the two different routes to qualification:

Training Contracts

From 1 November 2012, we will be accepting applications for Training Contracts beginning in September 2015/March 2016. The deadline for all training contract applications is 31 July 2013.

• If you are a second-year law undergraduate, please wait to submit your application until you have received your second-year exam results.
• We would advise those in their final year of undergraduate study (either law or non-law) and graduates to submit their applications at their earliest convenience.

If your application is successful, we will invite you to a one-stage assessment centre, where you will complete a written exercise, a fact-find exercise and a group discussion and have an interview with two partners.

Work Experience Programmes (Vacation Schemes)

Our Work Experience Programmes take place in the Spring and during the Summer and are based in the London office. We are accepting applications for places on our Work Experience Programmes in 2013 from 1 November 2012. The closing date is 31 January 2013.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to a 35-40 minute interview with a member of the Graduate Recruitment Team. Prior to the interview, you will be sent an online verbal reasoning test to complete. The result of this test alongside your interview will form the final decision.

Please note that we will interview for places on the Work Experience Programmes throughout January and the beginning of February and places will be offered during those months. As a result, it may be the case that the Work Experience Programmes will become full before the deadline of 31 January 2013. We would therefore encourage you to submit your application at your earliest convenience.

If you are successful in securing a place on one of our Work Experience Programmes, you will automatically be assessed for a Training Contract during your placement so you will not need to make a further application. Application enquiries should be made to Caroline Sarson, Graduate Recruitment and Development Manager at
